For patients and families
Who is Blue Clay Health for?
Anyone, of any age, whose care involves several specialists, more than one hospital system, or a condition that's rare, serious or still undiagnosed. Many people come to us through a family member who's been managing their care.
How do I choose my specialists? Can I change them?
We recommend specialists who fit your needs, and you can also browse our network yourself. You review their backgrounds and decide who joins your team. You can add, remove or change specialists at any time, for any reason.
Do I keep my current doctors?
Yes. Your Blue Clay Health team works alongside the doctors you already see. You decide what's shared with them.
What can my team actually do?
Your specialists can prescribe medications, order labs and imaging, and make referrals, directly through our practice. They also share one plan, so their advice fits together.
Do I have to collect my medical records?
No. With your permission, we gather your records from hospitals and clinics nationwide and combine them into one complete record. You can see and download everything we collect.
Can you care for patients in my state?
Our specialists practice across the country. Tell us where you live, and we'll confirm we can care for you before you commit to anything.
What does it cost? Does insurance cover it?
Blue Clay Health is direct-pay. Founding patients receive special pricing, which we'll walk you through on your first call. Your specialists set their own rates, and you see them before they join your team. We don't bill insurance directly, but we provide superbills so you can submit out-of-network claims.
Is financial support available?
Yes. If cost is a barrier, ask about our Access & Affordability Program. We review each request individually; support may include reduced fees or donated specialist time, depending on available funding.
What does my care navigator do?
Your care navigator is an experienced case manager who handles the logistics: scheduling, records requests, insurance paperwork, prior authorizations and follow-up. They're your first call for anything non-medical. Every patient has one.
How do I reach my team?
Message your team any time through our secure platform, and book a video visit whenever you'd like to talk face to face.
Can a family member manage care for me?
Yes. You can give family members or caregivers access to your record and messages, and change or remove that access at any time.
How is my information kept private?
Your information is protected under HIPAA and used only for your care. You control who can see your record.
What if I have an emergency?
Blue Clay Health is not an emergency service. If you have a medical emergency, call 911.
What does "founding patient" mean?
We're welcoming a limited number of patients before our full launch. Founding patients get early access and special pricing.
For specialists
What kinds of cases will I see?
Patients with complex, often multi-system conditions who chose you, with our recommendation, to join their team.
How much time do I need to commit?
There's no minimum. Work full time or part time, on your own schedule.
How do I set my rate and get paid?
You set your own hourly rate. Patients pay you directly through our platform, with monthly payouts.
Who handles licensing and malpractice?
We do. We sponsor and pay for additional state licenses when a case needs them, issued in your name, and we provide malpractice coverage for your work with our patients.
Does this conflict with my current job?
You work with us as an independent clinician. Many employment agreements allow outside clinical work, but please check yours.
Do I have to accept every case?
No. You're invited to join a patient's team, and you decide whether to accept.
How do I work with the rest of the team?
You see the other specialists' notes and orders as they happen, and you can message any of them directly. No scheduled meetings.
Still have a question?
Our team is here to help, with no commitment.
